Shinano is a province in Shogun: Total War. Located in the southern-central region of Honshu in the eastern Chūbu region, Shinano is a province of high economic value, covered in highlands that make it easily defensible but with little land for farms, making it financially unsuitable for agricultural development: Cavalry however can be recruited in Shinano with higher honor than units of its type recruited elsewhere, and it does possess iron sand deposits, therefore making it an excellent site to build an armoury. In the Sengoku Jidai campaign it is controlled by the Uesugi, by the Rebels and Ronin in the 1530 and 1550 campaigns, by the Takeda in the 1580 campaign, and in the Mongol Invasion campaign it is controlled by the Hojo. The province is landlocked, so ports cannot be built there. Castles built in this province will be called Fukashi Castle.
Historically, Shinano is a representation of Shinano Province. Today it is part of the Nagano prefecture.
