Shimotsuke Province

Shimotsuke is a province in Shogun: Total War. Located in the central region of Honshu in the northeastern Kantō region, Shimotsuke is a province of moderate economic value, but despite being covered in lowlands, the soil is poor and agricultural output is not very high, limiting its potential for farmland: the province however does possess abundant copper deposits, which can be exploited with a mine. In the Sengoku Jidai campaign it is controlled by the Hojo, by the Rebels and Ronin in the 1530 and 1550 campaigns, by the Uesugi in the 1580 campaign, and in the Mongol Invasion campaign it is controlled by the Hojo. The province is landlocked, so ports cannot be built there. Castles built in this province will be called Aizu Castle.

Historically, Shimotsuke is a representation of Shimotsuke Province. Today it is part of the Tochigi prefecture.
