Satsuma Province

Satsuma is a province in Shogun: Total War. Located in the southwest of the island of Kyushu, Satsuma is a province of minimal economic value, covered in highlands that make it easily defensible but with little land for farms, making it financially unsuitable for agricultural development. The province features a castle (called Kagoshima Castle) due to it being a factional capital, and No-Dachi Samurai recruited in the province will have higher honor than units of its type recruited elsewhere. In the Sengoku Jidai, 1530, 1550 and 1580 campaigns, it is controlled by the Shimazu, and in the Mongol Invasion campaign it is controlled by the Hojo. The province is along a coastline, making it possible to build a port. It is the faction capital of the Shimazu in the Sengoku Jidai, 1530, 1550 and 1580 campaigns.

Historically, Satsuma is a representation of Satsuma Province. Today it is part of the Kagoshima prefecture.
