Sado is a province in Shogun: Total War. Located on the island of Sado off the northern coast of Honshu, Sado is a province of minimal economic value, but despite being covered in lowlands, the soil is poor and agricultural output is not very high, limiting its potential for farmland: the province however does possess natural iron sand deposits, therefore making it an excellent site to build an armoury. In the Sengoku Jidai and 1580 campaigns it is controlled by the Uesugi, 1530 and 1550 campaigns it is controlled by the Rebels and Ronin, and in the Mongol Invasion campaign it is controlled by the Hojo. The province is an island, making it possible to build a port. Castles built in this province will be called Sumoto Castle.
Historically, Sado is a representation of Sado Province. Today it is part of the Niigata prefecture.
