Pharaoh of Egypt was a title held by the ruling monarch of Ancient Egypt from Early Dynastic Egypt to Late Dynastic Egypt, and was the absolute ruler of a unified Egypt. The first Egyptian known to hold this title was either Narmer or Menes, who are credited with having unified Upper and Lower Egypt into one state, and the last was Nectanebo II. The title was first adopted around 3150 BCE, and ceased to exist upon the end of the Thirtieth Dynasty of Egypt in 343 BCE.
