Echigo Province

Echigo is a province in Shogun: Total War. Located in the central region of Honshu in the northeastern Chūbu region, Echigo is a province of high economic value, being covered in lowlands and possessing vast, rich soil for farming, including a river that runs through it that allows access to easily defensible crossing points: it also possesses abundant silver deposits which can be exploited with a mine. In the Sengoku Jidai, 1550 and 1580 campaigns it is controlled by the Uesugi, by the Rebels and Ronin in the 1530 campaign, and in the Mongol Invasion campaign it is controlled by the Hojo. The province is along a coastline, making it possible to build a port. Castles built in this province will be called Otate Castle. It is the faction capital of the Uesugi in the 1550 and 1580 campaigns.

Historically, Echigo is a representation of Echigo Province. Today it is part of the Niigata prefecture.
